A young Allentown businessman recently used his birthday party as part of his ongoing quest to help make a wish come true — the ending of all blood cancers.

Thomas Williams Jr., real estate director of Allentown’s Cityline Construction, celebrated his 30th birthday by hosting “Party for a Cure,” a May 13 benefit bash for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society at The Hamilton Kitchen & Bar in Allentown. Williams invited friends, family, co-workers and business associates to join him.

Nearly 100 guests attended, paying a $10 donation at the door, which gained them access to a night filled with music, revelry and auction items, including a $3,000 diamond, drink specials and hors d’oeuvres. The party raised nearly $4,000.

Williams also is a candidate for the society’s “Man of the Year,” an annual program in which fundraisers across the country compete to earn the title on behalf of the organization.
